Trump's alleged failed uranium operation in Iran ends in fiasco
A US military operation near Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility, publicly presented as a pilot rescue, may have been a failed attempt to seize enriched uranium. The use of oversized C-130J transport planes, wreckage proximity to Natanz, and Tehran’s allegations of a cover-up have fueled suspicions.
As the US-Iran war enters its fifth week, fresh doubts have emerged over Washington’s account of a weekend “successful pilot rescue” inside Iranian territory. The wreckage of a downed F-15E was reportedly found near Natanz, home to Iran’s primary uranium enrichment site. That geographic coincidence, along with the deployment of C-130J aircraft capable of carrying 90 troops for a single injured pilot, has led analysts and Iranian officials to question whether the true objective was a covert uranium heist.
Cover-up claims and failed extraction
According to unconfirmed reports, the operation went badly wrong. At least two C-130J transports made hard landings on an unprepared airstrip and became inoperable. Iranian media and social media footage suggested heavy clashes near Kohgiluyeh province, with explosions and missile fire. Tehran’s Revolutionary Guards rushed reinforcements to the area, allegedly surrounding US units. The Pentagon then reportedly conducted a hasty evacuation using additional cargo planes, while abandoning or destroying damaged aircraft on the ground. Iran later released images of wreckage it claimed belonged to US helicopters and drones, including an MQ-9 Reaper shot down over Isfahan.
Tehran and Washington trade accusations
Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that “the pilot rescue operation in Isfahan has the possibility of being a deception operation to steal enriched uranium.” Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson told Russia Today that Sunday’s event was a clear “cover-up operation,” alleging that American soldiers had been killed. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has provided no identities or treatment locations for the rescued pilots.
